Maputo (MOZTIMES) – President Daniel Chapo has appointed economist Mateus Magala as his Lead Adviser for Economic and Development Affairs, the president’s office announced in a press release this Thursday.
Magala is a senior Mozambican economist who previously served as Vice President of the African Development Bank (AfDB). During Filipe Nyusi’s last term, he was Minister of Transport and Communications. Before that, he chaired the Board of Directors of the state-owned company Electricidade de Moçambique, where he oversaw reforms that contributed to improving the company’s economic performance.
