Maputo (MOZTIMES) – The Mozambique Republic Police (PRM) say they are investigating gunshots fired by unknown individuals at the home of Dinis Tivane, an aide to former presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane, in the early hours of 22 February, although they have not received a formal complaint from the victim, PRM spokesperson Leonel Muchina said in an interview.
The shooting took place at dawn in Tivane’s garage while he was outside the country attending to private matters.
“The police are investigating. We have been informed and we are interested in investigating. This is a criminal case, and it must be clarified,” Muchina said in a phone interview. “We were alerted to the case through reports. There has not yet been a direct notification from the victim, but our actions do not depend on that”.
