Maputo (MOZTIMES) – Since the beginning of post-election protests in Mozambique on 21 October, 130 people have been killed and 3,636 detained. According to the Electoral Platform (DECIDE), the period between 21 October and 15 December also recorded 385 people seriously injured by police gunfire.
During this period, five people were reported missing, and over 2,000 were injured, ranging from minor to severe cases.
In the “4×4 phase,” which took place from 4 to 14 December, 54 deaths were recorded nationwide. The province of Nampula reported the highest number of fatalities, with 13, followed by Maputo Province and Gaza, each with 10 cases. Zambezia recorded seven deaths, Cabo Delgado three, Sofala five, while Manica and Maputo City each reported two fatalities, according to the Electoral Platform’s report released on Monday.
