Maputo (MOZTIMES) – The Mozambican police (PRM) opened fire on a mass of supporters of former presidential candidate Venancio Mondlane, when he arrived on Thursday in the northern city of Nampula.

The police attack occurred when Mondlane’s supporters took to the streets to welcome him to the First National Convention of Anamola (National Alliance for a Free and Autonomous Mozambique), the political party which he founded last year.
