– The Local Force is estimated to have around 5,000 members, each of whom should receive 6,786 meticais per month

Pemba (MOZTIMES) – After around four months of waiting, some members of the Local Force militia have finally begun receiving their government-paid allowances, as compensation for their involvement in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado.

Although the payment has been welcomed, remuneration for the militia remains irregular and precarious, exposing community-based fighters to high levels of vulnerability.
