Beira (MOZTIMES) – Mozambique and Zimbabwe on Wednesday launched the second phase of the expansion of the Beira–Feruka fuel pipeline, a joint infrastructure project that, once completed, will increase annual transport capacity by 67 per cent and strengthen the Beira Corridor’s role as a strategic energy and logistics route for Southern Africa.
Mozambican President Daniel Chapo and his Zimbabwean counterpart, Emmerson Mnangagwa, jointly laid the foundation stone for the project in Nhamatanda, Sofala Province, marking the official start of construction work on new pumping infrastructure along the 294-kilometre pipeline linking the Port of Beira to Feruka in Zimbabwe.
