Maputo (MOZTIMES) – Mozambique is making one of the most significant interventions in its fuel market since economic liberalization, with the government dismantling a three-decade-old procurement model and handing exclusive control over fuel imports to a newly created state-owned company after a supply crisis exposed deep weaknesses in the country's energy security.
The Council of Ministers on Tuesday approved the establishment of the National Petroleum Products Procurement Company (ENAPP), a public enterprise that will become the sole intermediary responsible for acquiring and managing petroleum products destined for the domestic market.
