Maputo (MOZTIMES) – Mozambique's business community used the opening of the 21st Annual Private Sector Conference (CASP) on Tuesday to deliver one of its clearest calls yet for urgent economic reforms, warning President Daniel Chapo that high taxes, chronic foreign currency shortages, delayed state payments and growing legal uncertainty continue to undermine investment and competitiveness.

Speaking at the opening session, the chairperson of the Confederation of Mozambican Business Associations (CTA), Álvaro Massingue praised the government's willingness to engage with the private sector but argued that many of the reforms announced in recent months will only be meaningful if they translate into lower costs of doing business and greater predictability for investors.
