Maputo (MOZTIMES) – The Mozambican Minister of Agriculture, Roberto Albino, has warned that the country will criminalise the sale of counterfeit seeds during the 2027 agricultural season, under a new law providing for mandatory tracking using a quick response (QR) code.
“Selling counterfeit seeds will become a criminal offence. From next year, during the next agricultural season, seed packets will be sealed and will feature a QR code,” said Albino on Wednesday, during a meeting with business leaders in the central city of Beira.
