Pemba (MOZTIMES) – The command of the counter-terrorism operations of Mozambique’s Defence and Security Forces (FDS) has been transferred from the city of Pemba to the district headquarters of Mocímboa da Praia with immediate effect, President Daniel Chapo announced during a visit to military positions in Cabo Delgado.
Chapo first visited the district of Mueda, where he met members of the Makonde ethnic militia, the Local Force. The President praised the militiamen’s role in the fight against terrorism, in a triumphalist speech that nevertheless contrasts with the reality on the ground.
